Captain came to the Sanctuary after his person passed away, and his health was not doing so great. He was regularly throwing up and needed to be treated for a crop infection. There was even a scare where it looked like he had a couple of masses in hard-to-operate places — though, luckily, they were nowhere to be seen on second look. Through it all, Captain was a superstar. All he wanted was to “help” his new human friends, whether they were washing dishes or preparing meals (especially if they were preparing meals), and play with his bounty of new toys. And maybe show off his velociraptor impression.
